FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At WesTex Document we will go to the top to provide the best records management service in the market.
Question: Do I have to remove staples, paper clips and rubber bands? Answer: NO, but you might be able to reuse them. Question: Do I need to remove the paper from folders or binders? Answer: NO, but it would help and you can save the binders for reuse. Question: Can I keep my boxes to reuse? Answer: Yes, let us know when you schedule the service that you want to. Question: Do you recycle the paper? Answer: Yes, we are a Clean Texas Partner with the Texas Natural Resource and Conservation Commission, as well as a member of the EPA Waste Wise Program. We are not in the recycling business, however we do recycle everything that we can. Question: We have files to sort before destruction. What can we do? Answer: We can drop off containers to use for sorting into. We actually prefer this method. You can keep your boxes that way. Question: What will it cost me? In most cases less than the cost of you paying an employee to stand there all day and do it. Almost half the cost of a new file cabinet or storage shelf. All of our accounting firm customers recognize the significant cost savings enjoyed and the high level of security of using our service. Records that are kept beyond their retention period and stored in a storage shed or with a commercial firm are costing you far more. Destroy unneeded records at the end of their retention period as a matter of policy. Question: Are you insured? Yes, we carry $2 million in general liability and $1 million in Professional E&O, workers compensation, equipment coverage, and a fidelity bond that are all above minimums set by our industry standards. Question: Why should I shred my material, can't I just give it to our recycler? Records
must be destroyed at the end of their retention period as a matter of policy.
This helps to protect you from the many legal issues. Governmental entities in Texas
cannot give or sell confidential records to a recycler without first making them
unrecognizable as a government document. The Texas Natural Resource and
Conservation Commission (TNRCC) laws outlaw open burning. To
